Why This? Why Now?
In 2024, 76.2% of all Australian women aged 15-64 participated in the workforce. Their overall value contribution is reduced when:
-
85% of women leave full-time work within 3 years of having their first child; 24% leave altogether within the first year of motherhood.
-
36% of women drop off at management level due to fertility, maternity or menopause and return to the workforce in lesser skilled roles with reduced hours.
-
It can take more than 10 years for a woman's career to recover after having a baby.
-
50% of women report difficulty in finding work or leave work early due to poorly controlled menopause symptoms
Employers already incur significant direct costs due to women's health related issues in the workplace:
-
Absenteeism and lost work productivity due to reproductive issues is estimated to cost Australian companies $26.55B per annum.
-
Perinatal depression and anxiety are associated with economic costs of $643M attributable to productivity losses, increased workforce exit, absenteeism, presenteeism and carer requirements.
-
Menopause related issues cost Australian businesses $17B annually due to lost productivity and early retirement.
Currently, working women self-navigate a complex healthcare system and experience several pain points, including:
-
Long wait times to see their GP and/or a Specialist.
-
High variability in cost and quality of care.
- Fragmented care that doesn't holistically address the employee's needs.
- Personal leave to attend for care. Very few doctors offer telehealth and/or appointments outside of business hours .
What is the Women@Work Program?
Juno Healthcare is proposing to pilot a Women@Work Program specifically designed to address a working woman’s access to healthcare:
Tier 1
Subscription
-
All female employees will receive a 12 month digital subscription to access a suite of Juno online resources, tools, and programs for self care.
Tier 2
On demand services
-
All female employees will be able to self-refer and self-book a 45 minute initial telehealth appointment with a Nurse Practitioner using the Juno Platform.
-
The Nurse Practitioner will provide an initial assessment and management plan.
-
If deemed suitable, female employees can be referred by the Nurse Practitioner to a relevant multidisciplinary Juno Program.
There are 3 programs offered as part of Juno's pilot:
-
12 week Perimenopause / Menopause Program
-
12 week Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome Program
-
12 week 4th Trimester Program to support the health needs of new mothers
Instead of bouncing between specialists and piecing together advice, our one stop shop programs are designed to provide a clear and connected personalised health plan across 8 Video Telehealth appointments with a multidisciplinary care team led by a Specialist Physician.
The Benefit For Your Organisation
We provide an employee-friendly benefit that removes the time, energy and cost required to access care for women's health issues. Women@Work is designed as an alternative to the current healthcare system, which can often be overwhelming and confusing to navigate for working women short on time and bandwidth.
Our approach helps women regain control of their health, body and confidence.
Our program complements existing EAPs, but more specifically, addresses any barriers contributing to productivity and workforce retention.
Reported employer benefits from similar programs in the United States include:

Cost benefit
57% of women report a successful or earlier return to work post maternity leave.
5
Greater engagement and productivity from female workforce
97% of women with families are more loyal to employers who implement similar programs.

Employer of choice

5
Return to office
72% of employees say that access to virtual healthcare makes it easier for them to return to work in person.
All care delivered by Juno is 100% online, in the evenings and on weekends so that employees don’t need to take time off work, travel, or wait months for an appointment.
